mirror-to-the-past:

Was talking to someone who knows about Kingdom Hearts only through what they’ve heard/seen through me, focusing on the Dream Drop stuff I’d just finished. Mentioned in passing the design of the Keyblade that Sora and Riku used for the reality shift action in the World that Never Was, and they were like “oh wow, stained glass, huh?”

And I only responded with “Yeah, it was really pretty. I liked the design.” And they gave me the “come on, catch up dude,” expression in response. I asked them to elaborate, and they said: “Isn’t the stained glass stuff supposed to be important? You know, in the heart places you’ve talked about?”

I stared at them for a second and sort of had a mind blown moment. I was too focused on the potential significance of the Paopu Fruit keychain to register the stained glass appearance of the reality shift Keyblade and what that might mean, as well. Of course, Keyblades are already manifestations of an individual’s heart and whatnot, but additionally having Sora and Riku’s combined Keyblade be implied on a visual level to be a meshing of the physical manifestations of their hearts and innermost qualities/connections? What an interesting way to possibly apply the imagery of the Dive to the Heart locations. I just find that pretty cool.
